So widely accepted is this standard is that base cabinet manufacturers build all their cabinets to a height of 34 1 2 inches assuming an adequate toe kick and countertop thickness will be 1 1 2 inches.
Countertop window height.
For a traditional look with a sill and an apron at the bottom of the window add another 4 to 6 inches to the height to determine the standard kitchen.
I don t know of any actual standard for one but what is somewhat standard is your countertop would be at 36 your backsplash would be 4 more inches and you would need to leave several more inches for casings or apron so i would say make it at least 44 inches off the finished floor height that should also leave you a little allowance so your trim isn t squeezing your.
I have the windows with the flush counter behind but with white tiles and with a fantastic view unfortunately the first thing that i had planned on doing was raising the window height.
I think bumping the window out is pretty important to getting the uncramped and open feeling that makes this look so appealing.

I can understand having the space behind the sink but if there is an water that spills over it goes right into the vinyl window.
