Can You Attach Countertop To Wall

Why attach countertops if you have a countertop that spans more than about 18 inches and butts into a wall it needs adequate support underneath.

Be sure to include any overhang you want the butcher block to have as little as 1 inches for a standard countertop or up to a foot for a seating counter and keep it consistent and parallel to the front of the cabinets as you scribe. Apply the caulk with a caulking gun. You don t want to sight down your cabinets and counters and see a change of plane. When you measure for your countertop be sure to include the counter overhang which is usually between 3 4 1 inch in front and on open ends. First we moved the washer and dryer all the way to the wall to attach the countertop to the vertical support and then moved them all the way back to the vertical support with about 1 clearance.

If there are any bumps or curves in the walls against the counters you will need to scribe the template to fit them.
